Today is my maternal grandmother's birthday. She would be 80-something today, I guess. She's been gone for a few years.
This is her and me a long time ago.
She was the main person in my life with whom it was okay to be myself. In photos at my other grandparents' house, I am dressed in ruffles and standing still. At Gram's I am sprawled on the coffee table playing a ukulele wearing just an over-sized Mickey Mouse t-shirt.
In her younger days, she rode a motorcycle, danced til dawn, and, evidently, was hit on by lots of women.

My grandma warned me
Watch out for those lesbians
They'll get in your bed
